Project Life Layout, August 20 - August 26 {Week 34}

August 20 - There is my husband, cast and all (see my Week 33 post to find out how he ended up with this cast in the first place).  Didn't seem to slow him down too much. 

August 21 - This is one of the happiest days of our life with our dog Libby.  On Thursday, Aug 18 while my husband was hauling bales she jumped out of the truck while is was driving 85 km/hr down the road!  Into a tall crop field she disappeared.  He called and called, she wouldn't come.  We didn't know if she was alive or not.  I headed up in the van with the kids to where it happened (about a 20 minute drive north of our place) and we searched until dark.  Couldn't find her.  Someone spotted her a midnight though in the same spot so there was still hope.  The next morning my husband called the local radio station and they announced it for us - he also talked to all of the area farmers to let them know she was out there.  My husband knows a guy who works checking oil wells right in that very area and told him what happened.  Today, this guy called my husband as he and another farmer spotted her but when they called her she ran back into the field.  We headed up in the van and prayed all the way that this was our opportunity to get her.  We didn't see her at first then I spotted something a ways up the road - was it her???  YES IT WAS!!!  We called and when she realized it was us calling her she ran like the dickens to us!  We were so happy let me tell you.  Even as I type this I get tears just thinking how lucky we were.  How blessed we were that the Good Lord returned her too us.  My daughter has hardly left her side since, about long enough to sleep and that is all.  We are so happy to have her back.  I honestly doubted that the day would really come where we would get her back.  God is in control though and he saw fit for us to be reunited!!!

August 21 - Okay, we live on an acerage about 27 km from the nearest town, down in the valley where only a couple of local farmers travel the road, but my girls still wanted to 'pretend' and have an ice tea stand.  We have to give them 'hand made tickets' to get a drink.  It was pretty cute!

August 23 - The summer is starting to wind down and any opportunity we get (which isn't alot), the kids like to swim in the local pools.  Some friends rented the pool for an hour and we joined in on the fun.  Here my youngest is having a blast!

August 24 - My second youngest was laying on our bed this morning and I couldn't resist taking a picture of his feet.  To me, this moment is full of beauty!!!  I love that I have four healthy children and thank God every single day for them!

August 25 - Hunting season does not officially open until September 1, BUT, there is no law saying you can dress the part and sit in a bush unarmed before then...my husband does exactly that.  He loves, LOVES to just sit and watch the deer.  He has cameras and tree stands - you name it, whatever he can afford he has, and a list a mile long that he wishes he had.  If he could make a living doing this, he would!

August 26 - When the phone rang and a neighbor was offering my son a ride in this big tractor, do you think my son said no, not today...NOT.  As soon as I told him he sat at the end of the road until his big ride came to pick him up.  He was so excited!

Project Life Layout, August 13 - August 19 {Week 33}

August 13 - Off in the distance you can see my husband and daughter our for a relaxing evening ride.

August 14 - My son looking on towards his sister in the corral with the horses.

August 15 - A hot day.  The girls had a friend over and I decided to take them all to the pool for the afternoon.  Of course after the pool, you have to have a treat right...lol!  I set the camera up on the dash on a 10 second timer to get this shot.

August 16 - Oh how I miss my fish pond.  My mom has had one since I was a little girl.  We headed up there today to haul bales and I got this shot of her water hyacinths in behind the fountain.

August 17 - I have never tried to make homemade doughnuts, but today I did.  They were a hit - only problem I find is they are only good until they are a day old...any secrets to keeping these good for more than a day??



August 18 - Back up to mom and dad's to haul bales.  They still have the first house they lived in after they were married on their farm.  I took the kids out to it.  The first thing they said was how small it was!!  As a kid I use to sneak off into this house and rummage through boxes to see what treasures I could find of days gone by.

August 19 - Hmmm, this was an  interesting day.  It was the girls 4-H club campout down at some old rodeo grounds and all was well.  Here my son is practicing his roping skills.

As the night wore on though, my husband had a pretty bad wreck with one of our horses.  He was hauling logs up from the valley for a campfire but this one time while going through the gate he could see the lariat was not lined up right and he tried to undaly the rope from his saddle horn before the log got lodged on the gate...he wasn't quick enough and the horse ran about 3 strides before my husband's saddle literally blew apart and he landed on the ground.  In the end, we had to go to emergency and as it turned out, he broke his wrist. 

I can do without that kind of entertainment for a while.

Simplicity

   Last night I took a walk down the road with three of my four children, camera in hand as always.  It was such a beautiful evening, I wasn't sure what I was going to capture but I knew there would be something that would catch my eye.  As my husband and my daughter were riding across the field I changed the settings on my camera to capture a sunflare as the sun was going down.  You can see them walking through the water as the sun bursts out above and around them.  To me, these are the simple things in life that we take for granted everyday.

Project Life Layout, August 6 - August 12 {Week 32}

 

 

 

 

August 6 - Today was our Sunday School Picnic.  Originally, this was to be at the end of June but due to the flooding and roads being washed out, it was cancelled until today.  Here my daughter (the shorter one), and a friend are competing in the three legged race.  They almost won!

August 7 - I do take alot of pictures of my plants, I just love them so and appreciate daily what God has provided for our pleasure.

August 8 - Yes, a pair of shoes.  My sister in law took three of our kids and my husband and I went with our youngest boy to shop in Minot today.  I am going to Utah in September and needed some new clothes - I ended up with these darling little shoes as part of shopping trip.  So fun!!!

August 9 - As I was coming home from town today, it was hard not to notice that a farmer had set a controlled fire on his land (could be burning off flax straw from last year). 

August 10 - More of God's beauty.  Autumn is not far away and I will love looking back at these pictures when the snow sits covering the very spot I stood to take this picture.

August 11 - My dear DEAR Grandma.  I LOVE her so much that it hurts.  I do dislike the aging process, intensely.  I wish for her sake and mine, we could make time rewind a few years and stay there.  I have not had enough time with her.  She is aging rapidly.  She is trapped inside a crippling body.  Tonight I took the four kids and headed the hour drive to see her.  For some reason, I don't get there often.  It is an hour and I think it is sometimes easier to just stay at home.  But once I am there, I don't want to leave her.  I love you Grandma, so very much!

August 12 -  Wow, what a treat these are.  Nanking Cherries.  Last year the birds stripped my tree of these precious berries but this year, I got there first!  SO delicious!!!

Project Life Layout, July 30 - August 5 {Week 31}

July 30 - A highlight of the trip for me!  I LOVE rides and never get to a park like this.  It was geared for little kids for the most part, BUT there were rides that adults could enjoy just as much - like this one!!!  Here I am with my two girls.  Can you tell by my smile how much fun I am having.  I could have spent all day here.

July 31 - So hard to believe, the two week holiday is gone!  We headed home today and I was so happy to find that my plants were still alive after two weeks of me being gone.

August 1 - Today was the start of our Children's Bible Hour.  Once the lesson is over, all of the kids head outside and play games.  Here my son stopped as he was running down the hill and I couldn't resist this shot.

August 2 - My daughter picking some radishes, and wouldn't you know it, that dog Libby is right there beside her!!!  If you have been following my blog since the beginning of the year, this is not the first picture of Libby and her together.  Best friends.

August 3 - My son's lego obsession is in full force.  Before he comes out of his room in the morning, I can hear him tinkering with his lego.  He loves it.  Should be an easy Christmas this year as far as a gift for him is concerned.

August 4 - Now that we are back from holidays, the kids are all hooking up with their 'long lost friends'.  Tonight my son had a friend over for a sleepover.  I thought they would enjoy a movie in bed, so I propped the laptop up on some rubbermaid tubs.  They loved that!

August 5 - Today is the last day for the Children's Bible Hour.  There were alot of kids that came out for it, lots not in this picture.  Everyone had a great time all week long learning about Jesus and what he did for us and how we can be assured of being with him after we die.

Project Life Layout, July 23 - July 29 {Week 30}

July 23 - Cooking bacon on the open flame. 

July 24 - Wouldn't know this was a cowboy sporting a Hurley cap!  The kids thought it would be funny to find some feathers on the beach and slip them into his cap (they thought he wouldn't know, he did, but he played the part for them very well!)

July 25 - Thanks to some water wings, this little man became quite a water rat!  He loves the water.

July 26 - These 4 guys set out on what they thought was just a simple 9 km bike ride - uuhhhhh, nope, turns out it was a 29 km bike ride!!!  They did it and all felt good after it was over.

July 27 - This morning we woke up and it was already time to leave the lake and head to Winnipeg.  Took the kids to a park where you could buy tickets for go karts, motor boats, etc.  This shot has almost everyone in it except for me!

July 28 - Headed to Lower Fort Gary.  A very neat place.  A historic park where people dress the part, act the part (and really, don't ever break out of character) - it was awesome to see how they lived back in the 1800's.

July 29 - Dearest Grandma.  It was a hot day on the patio at their villa, but she ordered up milkshakes for everyone from the kitchen.  Loved that! 

{Week 30} is done, and onto {Week 31}.

Project Life Layout, July 16 - July 22 {Week 29}

July 16 - First beach day.  How we all love this time of year!!

July 17 - I took a chance and ordered this air rocket from amazon.  What a hit.  You simply step on the air pad and it forces the rockets way up into the air.  The kids (and daddy) had a great time with this toy.

July 18 - Let the water gun war begin.  There was an 'artillery' of water guns so off to the grass by the beach for a FUN water gun war.  No one was dry at the end of this!



July 19 - We do alot of biking when we camp.  The kids were all pretty excited to use the new bikes we purchased back in June for them!

July 20 - What a shot!  Here is my son 'catching' the football, but instead of catching it, it went through his hands and bounced off of his head.  He was getting 'warmed' up for the football game that all the 'boys' were going to have on the lawn at the beach.

July 21 - There are a some beautifully kept flower beds at the park, I love to browse through and see what they are growing.  Always a perfect spot for a photo.

July 22 - The park has a museum with stuffed animals and lots of info on animals that are native to the park.
