Project Life Layout, February 5 - 11 {Week 6}
February 5 - Happy Birthday to my mom! We had freezing rain last night, topped with another dump of snow so driving conditions are treacherous. Driving an hour to see her on her birthday doesn't sound like the safest thing to do. The last few snowfalls I have tried to get a good closeup of a single little snowflake, I think I have come to the conclusion that I may need a different lense to get as close as I want. Today I went out and got this picture. You can see about the middle of the picture a large snowflake with four visible arms. It was the best I could do. It was still snowing and I didn't want to get any snow on my lense so I only took a few.
February 6 - There was yet another huge dump of snow that prevented me from getting out of the yard to go to church and Sunday School. Today became a baking day for all of us. Here is my son goofing around wearing all the 'baking gear'.
February 7 - My mom and dad just got home from a week in Mexico (first time in their entire lives they have gone anywhere like this). Today, they came for a visit and surprised us all with gifts from their holiday! So nice to get to see them. They only live an hour away, but they both work shift work and are always busy so we don't see them often. Years ago my dad started this 'trend' with my kids - if grandpa comes grandpa comes with balloons for everyone. My kids quickly came to expect that grandpa would always blow up balloons once he was here. You can see my son with his. Don't even think about taking it away from him, he wanted to sleep with it!
February 8 - Opened up the last box of peppermint candy canes from Christmas today. Wow, what a hit with my kiddos! We had all forgotten that they were tucked up in the cupboard. Even I had one {I rarely eat a candy cane} in a cup of hot chocolate. Tasted pretty good!
February 9 - My oldest daughter loves to play games and do puzzles. She didn't know I had this tucked away until today. She loved it. She loves color and patterns so this was a hit with her.
February 10 - Tonight we had some of our dear friends over for supper. We absolutely love these guys and unfortunately, they are moving away this spring. We have been so blessed to have them in our lives. When they go, we surely will miss them.
February 11 - Today, I am going to include myself in my POTD (I am on the left) - I had coffee with a dear friend. We have been friends for years but you know how it can be, get married, have kids and life gets busy and friendships sometimes get pushed to the side. We had a great visit, and plan to get together more often - we only live 20 minutes from each other so there really is no excuse! This week as I look back at my pictures I can see a bit of a change. This is the week that I focused primarily on using my camera in manual mode and no flash. I am not so sure I like it, it is not easy. Trying to get that perfect shot is tricky, for me anyhow. I keep reading to keep trying and I will but honestly, I just want to go back to auto, I liked my pictures so much more (for indoor shots anyhow). Maybe next week I will improve and be happier with the pictures that are the result.
